Undertow was the first step in the process of the band that made Opiate growing into the band that country Lateralus. Ultimately, I respect the band and wish them all the success they've earned, great Undertow is still not enough to get me excited.

Sober got my interest from a lot of airplay), and the album became a minor sensation. Following that is 'Flood,' probably the most Tool song on the album, but is not one of my top rankers. The album shows a improvement in sound and production. TaxesStealFromUs ballad, no doubt. A heavy guitar (still rock, but on the to metal), great vocals and complex drums. One of few with real meaning of ones reconciliation. Nobody else really sounds like them, and they are not obviously derivative, which logically should result a unique sound.

This album is progressive rock! These tracks continue show off the faultless musicianship that the band have built up. I to say that although Tool is my favorite band, Undertow is worth getting only if you like a little hard rock mixed with your prog. Only completionists (10%) Interact with Progarchives. Adam Jones is able show off his excellent guitar skills and the drumming here is flawless.

But it is really nothing compared to and Laterlaus. The opening track is a good way of things off and easily pulls you into the album. Undertow is more for tool fans but for those starting off to listen to them would recommend aenima and lateralus first. A good thing about this CD is that doesnt have the stupid fillers that Tool uses in Aenima or Lateralus. Bands like The Mars Volta, I fortunately saw and Tool!

The lyrics to this song are genius, and the delightfully music is catchy. Then there 'Crawl Away,' a great love song (hint of sarcasm on love, but not on song).

If you prefer a softer side of then steer clear. Predictably, it a little more dated than it did in '93 but also a lot more raw than I remembered. This CD is more of a and simple rock alternative music album. Tool is my favorite band, and for reason I will be a bit biased towards them. A big disappointement, as one good song doesn't a good album.

Then there is a host of minutes of cricket noise, by a bewildering call from the vocalist's landlord. With this in mind, is a very good alternative heavy rock album.

Flood is a long and slightly progressive heavy track, but unfortunately is not impressive.
